Redwings Round the World

Below Deck: A Cruise Through Redwings

Redwings is a center cockpit design so we have two companionways that provide access to the cabins below. Lets start at the back, by descending into the aft cabin, and work our way forward.

Note: these pictures were taken with the digital camera, which has no flash, so they are not that great. We'll try to take some better ones with the 35mm and get them scanned in later.....

A large double berth fills most of the aft cabin. This is where Colleen and Aaron sleep. Alongside the berth is storage space. To the right is a chest of drawers (visible in the other photo), and to the left two hanging large lockers. A view of the port side of the aft cabin from the bunk. The aft head (toilet and shower) is located behind the bulkhead (wall) on the right side of the photo. Our bookshelf is a favorite kitty nap spot.
View from the aft cabin through to the main cabin. The passageway that connects the two is bordered to the right by the engine room and to the left by a pilot berth (small berth for one person). Colleen's leg is visible at the nav station. Here is the rest of Colleen and the rest of the nav station / chart table. This picture was taken from the galley. The ladder to the right leads to the main companionway and into the cockpit.
Now standing on the other side of the companionway ladder, we get a good view of the galley. Our fridge is located between the sink and stove. There is lots of storage space behind and to the right of the stove. Colleen on the starboard (right) settee in the main cabin. This is our "couch" and is also one of our best "sea berths" (least rolly place on the boat - we have a "lee cloth" that is tied along the left side of the berth to keep the occupant from rolling out it). Underneath and behind is more storage space.
Colleen honors us again posing in the port settee are. There is a "U" shaped seating area around a table which can fold down to turn it into a double bed. Again, more storage areas under and above. The forward head, which is pretty much identical to the aft head. In addition to a toilet and sink, the whole "head" is effectively a shower stall which drains through the floor. A door leads to both the main cabin and forward cabin.

Kerry's cabin a.k.a. "the forward cabin". Sleeps two. Lots of storage underneath, in a hanging locker to the right, and in drawers and cabinets to the left. The anchor chain locker in located forward of this cabin. Close up of topsides 20 seconds after painting in Hong Kong.  Last time they were white!
